I love the scriptures. I find the Bible inspiring. The Bible helps me know how to live. It helps me find my way through complex situations. I find that the advice given in the Bible works. It works like no other self-help book can, because the Bible is God’s words to me. Imagine that! God has written words of life for me to read. I shouldn’t ignore what He has to say.
The Bible gives perspective. It helps me see situations in my life the way God does.
Take, for example, the troubles you may be going through right now. For you, there may not seem to be any end in sight – you can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel or the silver lining of the cloud. Maybe you are trying to do what God is telling you to do, but you are very discouraged. Maybe people are talking about you. Maybe you are questioning why you’re in the place you’re in!
Now read 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. This is what it says:
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
When I read scriptures like these, I have hope. Many times, it is not easy to do what is right. It is not always easy to stand for the truth. It is often difficult to obey what God tells you to do because it often goes against the grain… you’re not just going with the flow.
No matter what persecution and trouble you may face today, stand up for what God wants in your life! If you do this, you will reap a glorious eternal reward!
God bless you!
