Steve isn’t what you would call a “hopeless romantic”. Our first date was actually a double date. I won’t name the other couple. The guys decided to cook supper for the girls. The gourmet menu consisted of pizza and Jello… This is not a joke… The pizza toppings slid off the crust while it was being served, and the Jello didn’t set.
During one part of the evening, Steve gave me a rose. We were in Grade 11 and Steve had done a research paper about the ozone layer. The card attached to my rose had the following words of poetry penned by Steve himself:
“Roses are red
Violets are blue
When the ozone breaks down
This flower will die”
Who needs William Shakespeare when you can write such lovely things yourself? Now you know why I couldn’t resist his charms!
Do you realize that the relationship between Jesus and the Church is compared to that of a husband and his bride? Jesus is the husband. We are His bride. The picture of love that is painted between this bride and groom is absolutely beautiful.
Song of Songs 4: 9, 10 –
Young Man
9 You have captured my heart,
my treasure, my bride.
You hold it hostage with one glance of your eyes,
with a single jewel of your necklace.
10 Your love delights me,
my treasure, my bride.
Your love is better than wine,
your perfume more fragrant than spices.
Jesus is in love with His bride. He has proven His love by His words and actions. Take the time to read the greatest love story of all. Try to fathom just how much He loves us!
Guys, you might even be inspired to write some lovely verse!
God bless you!
