Everything Works Out for Our Good

Romans 8:28 (NLT)

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

Bad things happen all around us. Bad things happen to us. God does not cause these things to happen. The painful things we face do not mean that God has stopped loving us. We have an enemy, the devil and his demons, that create chaos and evil in the world.

God is a good God. He’s a good Father. He will take every situation that we face and bring good out of it.

Let’s consider the story of Joseph. God had given Joseph big dreams. His brothers did not appreciate the dreams that Joseph shared with them. At first, they were going to kill their brother, but he ended up being sold as a slave. Imagine being sold by your own family!

And the story doesn’t end there! Joseph was wrongly accused of a crime. He was put into prison. He was there for years!

But after Joseph rose to power in Egypt, he told his brothers:

You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good.

Genesis 50:20 (NLT, excerpt)

God works out everything for the good of those who love Him, who are called for His purpose!

Maybe you are in a very difficult situation. Maybe you have faced tragedy, broken relationships, pain, discouragement.

Be assured that if you love God and have entrusted your life to Him, He is at work—even when you cannot see it. We may not understand how or when, but we can trust Him to bring good out of what we face, for His honor and His glory.

God bless you today.

Reflection

Is there a difficult situation in your life that you don’t understand? What encourages you about Joseph’s story? Take a moment to bring your situation to God and ask Him to help you trust Him, even while you’re waiting.

Prayer

Father, thank You that You are a good Father. You see what I’m going through, and You know how I feel. Help me to trust You when I don’t understand what is happening or cannot see a way forward. Give me strength for today and patience as I wait. I place this situation in Your hands. Bring good out of it, and let my life bring You honor and glory. In Jesus’ name, amen.
